5th Annual Skydive
Elsinore’s Chicks Rock Boogie 2005
On October 7-9, 2005, Skydive Elsinore hosted the
5th Annual Skydiving Chicks Rock Boogie! With the biggest turnout
yet, participants got in on skydives of all kinds— hybrids,
rodeos, big tracks, multi-point freefly dives, 4-ways, Pink Mafia
initiations, and more. Missy Nelson and Laura Vago rocked out as
guest freefly organizers, along with local talent, Ashley Lombardo,
and Elsinore Eclipse. Melanie Curtis and everyone from Elsinore
Gravity kept the specialty dives going, and the RW peeps jumping
too.
With the otters, skyvan, DC-3, and helicopter, there
was no shortage of aircraft— and the all-chicks sunset load
is definitely a new tradition! Manufacturers from all over the industry
had booths with loads of free demos— canopies from Performance
Designs and Aerodyne, containers from Sun Path and Relative Workshop,
and freefly jumpsuits from newcomer, Liquid Sky. Skyhook demos were
also available for those who wanted to get a first-hand look at
the new reserve deployment system. Covering the entire length of
Elsinore’s pond, Jonathan Tagle led the popular Night Swoop
Demo to kick off the Saturday night festivities.
After a scrumptious luau dinner, Chris Fiala kept
the dance floor rockin’, while the coconut bras and jello
shots kept things interesting! The Chicks Rock party is infamous
for a reason, and this year kept it’s reputation solidly in
tact. Pat Newman was on hand to catch all the antics on video, both
on the ground and in freefall, so we can all watch and laugh next
year— only to do it all over again! The
