The
Wigs on Fire series of events was a philanthropic effort devised and
organized by our own Rosa Alva to raise money, awareness, and hair
for the Locks of Love Foundation. Despite the downpours, Wigs 1 had
a great turnout and quite a few ladies stepped up to the scissors
to chop off their locks for a good cause. We all gathered around the
fire and felt good about just being there for support. The rain also
didn’t keep us from donning our wigs and hitting the Sports
Stop, a local watering hole for a great party. Less than a month later,
we tried again with Wigs 2 came better weather, lots of skydiving,
more cash and hair donations, and an even bigger party this time held
at the DZ with Moo spinning us some tunes into the wee hours. By the
end of it all, approximately $2400 was raised and more than a few
ladies gave the gift of new hair for wigs that will ultimately be
given to children struggling with cancer and other diseases. A big
thank you to Rosa for having such a big heart and giving her time
and energy to putting together such a fun and worthwhile event.
