| Another year,
and another great turnout for the annual Elsinore 10-way Speed meet!
100+ people were milling around the drop zone early in the AM on January
21st, 2006, and with Mary Beth on hand to judge, the day was shaping
up for another great meet. New this year, we decided to give the meet
two different classes— Intermediate and Open. We created the
new Intermediate class to give those teams made up of younger jumpers
a slightly easier pool of jumps, and with that a chance to put scores
on the board and see some success. Speaking of which Doug and Marilyn
Wuest put together a team for the Intermediate division and ended
up nabbing the gold! Mel’s Team We Go Both Ways and Steve’s
Meat Helmets as usual battled it out for not-last place, and not surprisingly
Team We Go Both Ways finished strong posting times less then 50-seconds
for 3 out of the 5 rounds. That being said, the Meat Helmets did have
the best team sticker this year. As always the competition in the
Open division was as heated as ever, ending up with happy gold medalists,
semi-happy silver medalists, and tolerant bronze medalists. Hahaa,
all joking aside, win or lose, a speedy good time was had by all who
participated. Single-file exits, no-show-no-grip, the brand new mystery
round where everyone got the dive as they boarded the Otter, and the
ever-popular formation load! It will all be back next year, so start
planning your teams now, 2007 will be here before we know it! |
